Dr. Mory Ghomshei, P.Eng. P.Geo.

Shortly after completing his doctoral studies in France on “energy producing materials and minerals”, Mory Ghomshei was invited, as a scientist, in 1984 to Canada to work for B.C. Hydro on environmental-friendly energy development projects.  

Mory is  presently a BCIT Faculty member and has worked previously as a professor and research scientist at  UBC and McGill University, where he has been conducting applied research and teaching courses related sustainable energy systems, environmental risk management and artificial intelligence – He has been the principal investigator in several seminal studies on epidemiological studies related to environmental risk assessment and management. 

Mory has worked as an international consultant (e.g. developed for World Bank, environmental guidelines for energy projects) in field of sustainable development. As a director of North Pacific Geopower (a TSX company) he directed a 40 million dollars geothermal power resource development project. As the manager of CERM3 (Centre for Environmental Researc in Minerals, Metals and Materials at UBC), Mory supervised a 5 million dollar CFI fund developing six laboratories for innovative environmental research. 

Mory has authored or co-authored over 250 reports (for clients) and 150 publications. 

Dr. Hamid R Ansarian, MD

Hamid is a practicing family doctor in Manitoba, Canada. He has been involved in several research activities parallel to his practice of medicine. Hamid’s research interest includes a wide range from basic science and pathophysiology of disease to diagnostic Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.

His main interest is a deeper understanding of life and health to help patients most efficiently. In addition to his career in medicine, he has been courageous to quest, learn, and apply the fundamentals of multiple principles, from physics and chemistry to psychology and philosophy in that regard.

Hamid has co-authored several publications that range from field epidemiology to Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. 

Dr. Mahnaz Derakhshan, MD PhD

Mahnaz is trained as both a physician and an engineer and is passionate about personalized medicine. She is a scholar in Harvard University, Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program; and has received a post-doctorate Diploma of dermatology from the University of London, UK; a Master of Engineering and a Ph.D. from Kumamoto University, Japan; and a doctorate of medicine (MD) from Tehran University of Medicine, Iran. 

Her academic studies and field of expertise range from computer science and artificial intelligence to basic science, health and medical specialty. She has co-authored several publications in those fields. She conducted epidemiological studies for UNICEF and UNFPA in 2000 and 2001 and had been a fellow of JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) in 2007 and 2008. 

Mahnaz’s leading research interest is personalized medicine. She believes in the effect of multidisciplinary studies in health and medicine and evaluates any personal or social health and medical obstacle from different perspectives.  She is eager to utilize her knowledge within the multidisciplinary team of Conovita to serve our clients.
